Earl Mullins, 6 & 12 string acoustic guitar

Earl's instrumental repertoire includes a variety of fingerstyle pieces in the country blues and ragtime styles.  He plays country blues instrumental tunes by some of the old masters such as Rev. Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt, and other artists.  Scott Joplin rags are rarely performed on guitar, and tunes like,  "The Maple Leaf Rag", "Easy Winners", and "The Entertainer" are challenging favorites.  Hawaiian slack-key guitar is a more recent but very strong interest, along with ukulele.  Every once in a while, he sneaks in an original composition too.

Earl sings pop and folk tunes drawn from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.  Favorite influences include Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Jimmy Buffett, Jim Croce -- well, you get the idea.  He also plays a variety of lesser-known tunes by old and new artists.  Any great song is fair game!

He has performed at numerous venues throughout Alaska and Idaho, including coffeehouses, conventions, and weddings.  Alice and Earl have performed for several years at the Seldovia Summer Solstice Festival and at the Anchorage Folk Festival.  At the AFF, Earl usually teaches a beginning fingerstyle guitar clinic and a stagecraft / microphone clinic.  Alice helps teach a native wood flute workshop, in addition to performing.
 

Alice Mullins, flute

Alice is a classically trained flutist, and plays the standard concert flute, plus alto flute and bass flute.  Bass flute is her specialty, a unique and wonderful sounding instrument that is unfamiliar to most people.  She also plays a variety of native wood flutes and pennywhistles too.  Alice and Earl have sets of flute / guitar / voice arrangements, including pop tunes and jazz classics.
